ABOUT MY WORK

I’m interested in community life in regional and remote areas, particularly the everyday realities of living and working in smaller communities.

Relationships, local knowledge, practical support, and the people who quietly keep things moving are often central to how communities function, though this work is not always recognised within formal systems.

I’m especially interested in the experiences of women in regional communities, and the amount of relational and community-based work that often sits alongside jobs, leadership roles, family life, and caregiving.

Living and working in regional areas has shaped the way I see these issues. Regional communities hold a great deal of strength, capability, and generosity, but they also face ongoing workforce pressures, limited services, and the challenge of sustaining people over the long term.

My background is in education and leadership, though my work now extends more broadly into community development, regional wellbeing, and sustainable ways of living and working.

I’m less interested in adding more initiatives and more interested in paying attention to what communities are already doing well.

Community development work shaped by regional life, relationships, leadership, and the realities of smaller communities.

ABOUT

ABOUT ME

I’ve worked across teaching, leadership, consulting, and community-based roles for many years, mostly in regional settings.

Over time, I became more interested in the pressures sitting underneath the work itself. Why some people leave regional communities or community-based work, while others remain connected to it for decades. What helps people stay. What communities lose when experienced people leave.

Much of what shapes my thinking comes from experience. Regional communities often function through relationships, trust, and people stepping in where needed. Alongside this work, I’ve continued studying community development, with a particular focus on in leadership, wellbeing, sustainability, and long-term community capacity in regional and remote areas.

Currently, I’m developing projects and resources connected to leadership, community wellbeing, and sustainable approaches to regional and remote work.
